Five of the seven charges filed against Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis last fall are dismissed while the remaining two will also be dismissed if the second-year player "stays out of trouble for the next year," the judge in the case ruled Friday, according to The Athletic's Blake Murphy.

Davis, 23, was facing charges after an alleged incident involving his girlfriend at a New York City hotel in October. Davis entered a not-guilty plea.

Davis' two pending dismissals - endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief in the fourth degree - will be dismissed through a deferred disposition known as an "adjournment in contemplation of dismissal" if certain conditions are met, according to Murphy.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Raptors management maintained that any disciplinary decisions - such as placing Davis on administrative leave - had to be made by the league office rather than the franchise.

"It may feel unsatisfying, but we need to be respectful of that process," general manager Bobby Webster said during the preseason. "We take this incredibly seriously."

With no intervention at the NBA level, Davis continued to play for the Raptors while his legal situation proceeded. An All-Rookie Second Team selection in 2019-20, Davis has averaged 13.3 minutes per game across 23 appearances this season.

The league's investigation in conjunction with the National Basketball Players Association isn't complete, the Toronto Star's Doug Smith reports.
