Spoelstra: Jimmy Butler's like 'that guy in the Dos Equis commercial'
Dos Equis' famous spokesperson may have some competition for the "Most Interesting Man in the World" title from Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler.
"That guy in the Dos Equis commercial? Jimmy's like a version of that guy," Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Rohan Nadkarni. "He's literally one of the most interesting people in the NBA fraternity. If you talk about anything, he's like, 'I've done that.'"
Spoelstra recalled one such conversation he had with Butler while they were both on vacation in Italy in the summer of 2019. They were discussing travel when Spoelstra mentioned how he had promised to take his wife, Nikki, on a wine tour of France.
"Of course, Jimmy goes into a whole story about how much time he's spent there, and how he's friends with one of the more famous wineries there," Spoelstra said. "My wife, I could just see the steam coming out of her ears."
Butler had a strong first season in Miami, averaging a team-high 19.9 points per game and leading the Heat to the 2020 NBA Finals. He also found success off the court with his Big Face Coffee company, which he could turn into a full-fledged business in the future.
