Tristan Thompson is expected to miss most of his first training camp with the Boston Celtics due to a hamstring strain, coach Brad Stevens told reporters Saturday, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.

After nine seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the 29-year-old Thompson inked a two-year, $19-million deal last month with the Celtics.

The big man enjoyed a career year last season, averaging 12 points, 10.1 boards, 2.1 assists, and 0.9 blocks per game. He was in the 95th percentile among bigs in offensive rebounding rate, according to Cleaning the Glass.

Thompson also showed signs of expanding his range out to the 3-point arc. He launched 23 threes in 2019-20 - more than double the total from his first eight seasons combined - and connected on nine (39.1%).
