With Amanda Nunes versus Megan Anderson scrapped as the UFC 256 main event, Tony Ferguson wants to step in.

The former interim lightweight champion released a video on social media Saturday to express interest in headlining the Dec. 12 card opposite ex-Bellator champ Michael Chandler.

Ferguson, who's coming off a TKO loss to Justin Gaethje in a May interim title bout, said in the video he's tired of sitting on the sidelines. The veteran has only competed once in 2020.

"El Cucuy" said he still wants to fight lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who retired in October, so he's willing to do anything that gets him a title shot the "fastest."

The 36-year-old was expected to return to action against Dustin Poirier at UFC 254. But the fight never materialized because Poirier failed to come to terms with the UFC.

Nunes withdrew from the UFC 256 main event for undisclosed reasons earlier this week. The two-division champion was scheduled to defend her women's featherweight title for the second time.

The card, which is set for the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, also features a bantamweight title fight between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling. The promotion hasn't said whether it plans to move that contest into the main event or book a new fight.
