76ers sign GM Brand to multi-year extension
The Philadelphia 76ers have signed general manager Elton Brand to a multi-year contract extension and hired Daryl Morey as their next president of basketball operations, the team announced Monday.
"This offseason, we made it our mission to make this organization better and stronger," Sixers managing partner Josh Harris said in a statement. "By hiring a tremendous front-office leader in Daryl and championship coach in Doc (Rivers), as well as extending Elton, we're proud of what we've assembled.
"I'm excited for their leadership and look forward to continuing to build a team this city and our fans can be proud of."
After his playing career ended in 2016, Brand immediately transitioned to a player development role with the 76ers. He became the general manager of Philadelphia's G League affiliate in Delaware in 2017, then assumed the same role with the 76ers in 2018 following Bryan Colangelo's resignation in the midst of a social media controversy.
