The NBA's latest coaching free agent is already garnering significant interest.

After agreeing to step down as bench boss of the Los Angeles Clippers, the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers have contacted Doc Rivers regarding their respective head coach openings, The Undefeated's Marc Spears reports.

New Orleans parted ways with former head coach Alvin Gentry in August after five seasons, while Philadelphia dismissed Brett Brown a few days later after the Boston Celtics swept the 76ers out of the first round.

Both teams have several significant building blocks that could entice Rivers. The 76ers feature two All-Star talents in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, while 20-year-old Zion Williamson and recent Most Improved Player winner Brandon Ingram headline the Pelicans' young core.

It's unclear at this time whether Rivers has expressed mutual interest in joining either organization.
