Raptors ride Lowry to double-OT win over Celtics, force Game 7
After a marathon Game 6, the defending champs were still alive and Kyle Lowry had added to his status as a legendary Toronto Raptor.
Toronto rode Lowry's 33 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals to a 125-122 double-overtime win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, forcing a deciding Game 7 on Friday.
In doing so, the Raptors became just the third team in NBA playoff history to force a Game 7 with a multiple-overtime Game 6 win.
Lowry's turnaround fallaway jumper over Kemba Walker with 11.7 seconds remaining clinched the victory. He played 53 of a possible 58 minutes - one off his career high - and his 33 points ranked fifth all time by a Raptor in an elimination game.
The point guard's heroics came on a night when Raptors forward Pascal Siakam continued to struggle with his shot. Siakam went 5-for-19 from the floor in 54 minutes, including 0-of-5 from beyond the arc. He is now shooting 4-for-31 from deep in the series against the Celtics.
The Raptors were also bailed out by Norman Powell, who caught fire late and scored 15 of his 23 points in the two overtime periods.
Game 7 goes Friday at 9 p.m. ET. The Raptors are 3-2 all time in Game 7s.
