Anthony Alford's time with the Toronto Blue Jays has come to an end.
The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed the speedy outfielder off waivers after Toronto designated him for assignment last week, the team announced Thursday.
Alford was once one of the top players in the Blue Jays' system and considered the No. 22 prospect for the organization this season, per MLB Pipeline.
The 26-year-old appeared in 46 major-league games across four seasons in Toronto, hitting .155/.200/.254 with two home runs, six stolen bases, and 30 strikeouts. He went 3-for-16 (.188) with seven strikeouts and one home run this year.
