FC Dallas' 1st match postponed after positive COVID-19 tests
Major League Soccer confirmed Saturday that FC Dallas' match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, originally scheduled for July 9, has been postponed after the club announced several positive COVID-19 tests earlier in the week.
The contest was slated to be the first game back for each team coming out of the pandemic-induced shutdown.
The MLS is Back Tournament, taking place in Orlando, is still scheduled to begin July 8.
FC Dallas arrived in Florida on June 27, and after six players tested positive for COVID-19, all club members were quarantined for six days. The Whitecaps, meanwhile, are due to arrive at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Monday.
Their match will be rescheduled at a later date.
Dallas' first game of the tournament will now come July 15 against the Seattle Sounders, with the Whitecaps playing the San Jose Earthquakes the same day.
