Mariners select Georgia ace Emerson Hancock No. 6 overall

With the sixth pick of the 2020 MLB Draft, the Seattle Mariners selected Emerson Hancock, a right-handed pitcher out of Georgia.
A highly regarded high school prospect, Hancock broke out as a sophomore starter for Georgia in 2019 by leading the SEC in WHIP and issuing fewer than two walks per nine innings. He's the top-ranked right-handed pitcher in this draft by MLB.com.
Hancock joins Jeff Pyburn in 1980 as the highest draft pick in Bulldogs history.
