The Golden State Warriors have had their eyes on Giannis Antetokounmpo for quite some time.

Warriors management has been preparing to make a bid for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar for years in the event he becomes available, a source told the San Francisco Chronicle's Connor Letourneau.

In addition to multiple lottery picks, Golden State could offer an All-Star talent in Klay Thompson or Draymond Green, along with young forward Andrew Wiggins, as part of a potential trade package for Antetokounmpo.

The reigning MVP will be eligible to re-sign with Milwaukee on a five-year super-max extension worth up to $254 million this summer. Alternatively, Antetokounmpo can elect to test unrestricted free agency for the first time once his current contract expires after the 2020-21 season.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers has a history of maneuvering his team's cap space in order to acquire stars, most recently landing Kevin Durant in the 2016 offseason.

While teams' interest in luring Antetokounmpo out of Milwaukee is bound to intensify in the coming months, the 25-year-old previously stated that if the Bucks sustain a winning culture, "There's no other place I want to be."
