Wade explains why he gave Aaron Gordon a 9 in dunk contest

Dwyane Wade is standing by his decision to score Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon a nine on his final entry in the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk contest.

When asked during a Bleacher Report AMA why he didn't give Gordon's dunk a perfect 10, Wade explained it was because Gordon failed to clear Boston Celtics center Tacko Fall.

"Because I felt that dunk deserved a nine," Wade said. "For the record, a nine is actually not a bad thing ... I thought that dunk deserved a nine because he didn't clear him ... People are still talking about the dunk contest ... People are still talking about it months later. As judges, we did our job. We made it interesting and something that people keep wanting to talk about."

Gordon scored 47 overall from the judges for the dunk, making Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. the winner. Common, who gave Gordon a 10, later revealed that one member of the judging panel ruined a planned tie between the pair.
