White: 'None of your business' if UFC 249 fighters will be tested for COVID-19

UFC president Dana White apparently doesn't want the public to know whether fighters competing at future events, including UFC 249 on April 18, will be tested for the coronavirus.

"The less the media knows, the better," White told Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole. He added: "A lot of this hysteria and all this stuff that's gone on has been driven by the media. The less the media knows, the better off it is."

White insisted UFC fighters, staff, and other event personnel will receive "the best medical attention possible" during the pandemic, but he did not provide specifics.

"You don't need to know," he said. "It's none of your business."

The UFC has postponed three events in response to the crisis, but White is adamant the promotion will resume operations as soon as possible, starting with the Khabib Nurmagomedov-Tony Ferguson pay-per-view card.

White said Monday the new location for UFC 249 - which was originally scheduled for Brooklyn - is "99.9%" set, but he refused to confirm where the card will take place. He told Iole there are several options both within the United States and abroad.

"Health and safety isn't something that just popped up on our radar with the coronavirus," White continued. "It's something that we deal with every week - for the last 20 years. We will make sure that we take care of everybody just like we always do.

"I'm not giving the public and the media all kinds of information on what I'm doing. But let me say, I'm not acting like some crazy rebel out here ... I've done everything that I've been told to do. When the government said you could only have this many people, there were only that many people. ... We stopped, we did everything that we were told to do."
