Giannis hopes son's birth will boost his stats like Raptors' VanVleet
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is hoping fatherhood will lead to some improvements on the court.
While discussing the recent birth of his first child, son Liam Charles Antetokounmpo, Giannis brought up the tear Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet went on last season after welcoming his own son, Fred Jr., following Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.
"Look at Fred VanVleet," Antetokounmpo said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Eric Woodyard. "He started making all those shots when he had his kid. Maybe that happens to me also. Who knows?"
VanVleet went from shooting 20% through the first three games of the 2019 Eastern Conference finals to 68% in the final three contests, helping the Raptors eliminate the Bucks from the playoffs.
As for Antetokounmpo, he's currently averaging a career-high 30 points and 13.5 rebounds per game through 48 contests this season.
