Timberwolves trade Teague, Graham to Hawks for Crabbe

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded veteran point guard Jeff Teague and shooting guard Treveon Graham to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for shooting guard Allen Crabbe, the Timberwolves announced Thursday.

The move sends Teague back to the franchise where his career started as the No. 19 pick in 2009. The 31-year-old played his first seven seasons in Atlanta, making his lone All-Star appearance in 2015 as a member of that year's 60-win squad. Teague has averaged 13.4 points, 7.1 assists, and 1.2 steals in 31 minutes per game since signing with the Timberwolves in 2016.

Graham has averaged 5.2 points and three rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game in 2019-20. The fourth-year swingman has started in 20 of his 33 appearances this season.

Crabbe saw a reduced role with the Hawks this campaign after four straight years with at least 26 minutes of playing time per night. From 2015-19, the 27-year-old averaged 11.1 points per game with an effective field-goal percentage of 53.9%. Through 28 appearances in Atlanta this season, Crabbe had put up just 5.1 points on a 46.9% eFG, while playing under 19 minutes per game.

All three players are on expiring contracts and are set to hit unrestricted free agency. Teague's $19-million salary and Graham's $1.6-million contract will come off the Hawks' books this summer. Crabbe's expiring cap hit is $18.5 million.
