Report: Donaldson holding out for $110M deal

The Josh Donaldson sweepstakes seem to be down to whichever team will offer an extra $10 million first.

Donaldson is reportedly mulling multiple four-year deals in the $100-million range from the Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, and Minnesota Twins. However, the former MVP has notified clubs that he's waiting for a team to hit his number, which is believed to be $110 million, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The 34-year-old is coming off of a bounce-back campaign with the Braves, during which he hit .259/.379/.521 with 37 home runs over 155 games and earned down-ballot MVP votes. The resurgence came on the heels of a pair of injury-plagued seasons, where he played a total of 165 games with a .900 OPS. He split time between the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians over those two campaigns.

Donaldson is one of the last remaining elite hitters on the free-agent market and the last unsigned impact third baseman. Asdrubal Cabrera, Todd Frazier, and Matt Duffy comprise the next tier of hitters at the hot corner.

Over his nine-year career, the two-time Silver Slugger and three-time All-Star possesses a 136 OPS+ with 219 homers in 1038 games played.
