LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger will coach against Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl after his daughter-in-law died in a plane crash Saturday morning, a team spokesman told Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger.

Carley McCord, a 30-year-old sports reporter for WDSU News in New Orleans, was traveling to Atlanta for the first College Football Playoff semifinal when her plane went down over Lafayette, Louisiana.

"Our thoughts and prayers out to him," LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said, according to SEC Network's Brandon Zimmerman. "Steve and his wife, his family are so distraught. Steve is a man. He knows how to handle things."

Ensminger coordinated the nation's top-ranked offense in 2019.

Five people died in the crash, according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach. McCord's husband, Steve Ensminger Jr., was not on the plane.
