Ole Miss announced the hiring of Lane Kiffin as its new head coach on Saturday.

Kiffin will be the Rebels' fourth head coach in the last 10 years after three seasons in charge of Florida Atlantic. The 44-year-old led the Owls to their second Conference USA title in three years Saturday with a 49-6 win over UAB.

Ole Miss fired Matt Luke after three seasons and a 4-8 finish in 2019 that included a wild loss to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.

Rebels athletic director Keith Carter said the team needed "a head coach who can walk into a room and absolutely take over that room and galvanize people."

Kiffin is known for his high-powered offenses and will be expected to reinvigorate the lackluster on-field product Ole Miss has displayed of late.

The Rebels haven't had a winning season since 2015, and they've combined for a 15-28 record over the past four campaigns.
