The Minnesota Twins remain interested in signing a third baseman this winter, and they've begun looking into a few of them, including Josh Donaldson and Todd Frazier, according to Darren Wolfson of SKOR North.

If the Twins do land a new third baseman, an option they're considering is non-tendering first baseman/designated hitter C.J. Cron and moving Miguel Sano to first, Wolfson added. Mitch Garver, after a breakout season behind the plate, is another option to spend time at first base.

Donaldson, 33, is coming off of a strong rebound campaign with the Atlanta Braves, during which he slashed .259/.379/.521 with 37 homers. After inking a one-year deal with the Braves last offseason, Donaldson rejected a one-year, $17.8-million qualifying offer to become a free agent this winter.

The 33-year-old Frazier posted a .251/.329/.443 slash line with 21 home runs as a member of the New York Mets over 133 games in 2019.

Meanwhile, Sano authored an impressive .923 OPS with 34 homers in 105 games, but he cost the Twins 6.6 runs with his defense, according to FanGraphs. Marwin Gonzalez and Ehire Adrianza also made appearances at the hot corner for Minnesota.

The Twins are coming off of their first division title since 2010 after winning 101 games in 2019. Michael Pineda, Jason Castro, Kyle Gibson, Sergio Romo, Jonathan Schoop, and Martin Perez are among the players they could lose in free agency this winter.

The Braves, Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Texas Rangers have all been tied to Donaldson as potential landing spots.
