10 NL players who could be traded this winter

In this two-part series, theScore MLB editors Michael Bradburn and Jason Wilson identify 10 players in each league liable to be dealt this offseason and rank their likelihood of being traded - using a scale from 1 (unlikely) to 5 (extremely likely).

Charlie Blackmon, Rockies

Age: 33
Position: OF
Contract: Signed through 2023 (4 yr/$74M, player options for 2022-23)
Trade factor (1-5): 2

Merely two seasons after signing Blackmon to a six-year, $108-million extension, the Rockies should probably look for ways to get out of his contract. Their window for contention appears to be all but closed despite having hefty investments. Blackmon is coming off a great year, hitting .314/.364/.576 with 32 homers, so finding a team that's willing to take him, offer a decent return, and eat the vast majority of his contract should be feasible. However, it would be tough for Colorado to indicate to fans that it's pivoting toward a rebuild shortly after handing Nolan Arenado an eight-year, $260-million extension.

Josh Bell, Pirates

Age: 27
Position: 1B
Contract: 1st-year arb (FA after 2022)
Trade factor (1-5): 2

Pirates ownership and a new front office seems moments away from having every player sit on the front lawn of PNC Park next to a sign that says 'Everything Must Go,' so the team's best slugger has to make this list. But Bell might be worth building around. When the Atlanta Braves were preparing to sell off all of their pieces ahead of their most recent rebuild, they kept Freddie Freeman. Now, they look like geniuses for it. The Pirates may want to follow suit, with Bell coming off a 37-homer campaign during which he posted a stellar .569 SLG. He's also under team control for three more years.

Kris Bryant, Cubs

Age: 27
Position: 3B
Contract: 2nd-year arb (FA after 2021)
Trade factor (1-5): 2

Along with Francisco Lindor and Mookie Betts, Bryant completes the trio of superstars who might be dealt this winter. It doesn't seem to make much sense for a team with lofty goals to trade away a former MVP who will turn 28 years old in early January. However, the three-time All-Star still has a pending grievance against his early-career service-time manipulation which could result in him hitting free agency a year earlier than expected.

Raisel Iglesias, Reds

Age: 29
Position: RP
Contract: Signed through 2020 (1 yr/$5.71M, plus 1 more year of arb)
Trade factor (1-5): 2

The Reds need to focus on improving their roster heading into 2020. After missing out on Yasmani Grandal, their closer could become a strong bargaining chip. The difference between Iglesias and setup man Amir Garrett seems negligible, and signing one of Will Harris or Dellin Betances seems to be an option for Cincinnati as well. Dangling Iglesias could be worthwhile in order to bolster the lineup.

Starling Marte, Pirates

Age: 31
Position: OF
Contract: Signed through 2020 (1 yr/$11.5M + $12.5M team option)
Trade factor (1-5): 5

The Pirates are open for business and Marte is the most valuable and movable piece the club boasts. Expect the outfielder to figure prominently in the rumor mill and to be wearing a new uniform on Opening Day. The two-time Gold Glove winner is a capable center fielder and owns a .816 OPS over the last two seasons. Almost every team in baseball could use Marte.

Carlos Martinez, Cardinals

Age: 28
Position: RP
Contract: Signed through 2021 (2 yr/$23.4M + $17M team option in 2022, 2023)
Trade factor (1-5): 2

If the Cardinals are looking to move anyone, Martinez is the most high-profile player they could put on the block. The two-time All-Star is still owed a lot of money, but there might be a team willing to take on a large portion of his salary in order to buy low on a starting pitcher. Martinez made 48 appearances last year, all out of the bullpen, posting a 3.17 ERA over 48 1/3 innings.

Wil Myers, Padres

Age: 29
Position: 1B/OF
Contract: Signed through 2022 (3 yr/$67.5M + $20M team option in 2023)
Trade factor (1-5): 2

Whether the Padres deal Myers depends almost entirely on whether a team will be willing to take on a portion of his contract, which seems unlikely. San Diego would also be selling extremely low on the slugger, who is coming off his worst full season at the dish, hitting .239/.321/.418 with 18 homers and 16 steals. It might be best for the club to hang onto Myers for a little while longer to see if he becomes an above-average hitter again.

Robbie Ray, Diamondbacks

Age: 28
Position: SP
Contract: 3rd-year arb (FA after 2020)
Trade factor (1-5): 4

The Diamondbacks are a bit of an enigma. They're coming off of a second-place finish in the division and for a while, they seemed within striking distance of a wild-card spot. However, they recently shipped both Paul Goldschmidt and Zack Greinke out of town, so Ray could be next. The left-hander has enjoyed success at different points in his career, thanks to his preternatural ability to strikeout hitters. Ray's walk rate has kept him from becoming an ace, but the former All-Star would have plenty of suitors if the front office started shopping him.

Corey Seager, Dodgers

Age: 25
Position: SS
Contract: 2nd-year arb (FA after 2021)
Trade factor (1-5): 1

Seager is going to enter the rumor mill due to Gavin Lux's well-deserved graduation to the majors at the end of last season. It's not necessary for the Dodgers to jettison Seager in order to find a spot for both he and Lux on the roster, but his presence will cause some consternation. The 25-year-old hit .272/.335/.483 with 19 homers and 44 doubles last year, but he failed to recapture his 2017 form.

Jean Segura, Phillies

Age: 29
Position: SS
Contract: Signed through 2022 (3 yr/$44.55M + $17M team option in 2023)
Trade factor (1-5): 3

It's kind of a coin flip whether the Phillies actually look to trade Segura, and it rides on the team's pursuit of free-agent shortstop Didi Gregorius. If Philadelphia does land Gregorius, he'd be reunited with his former manager Joe Girardi. Segura is coming off his worst season since 2016 but is still a cost-controlled shortstop who plays above-average defense and hits at a league-average rate.
