Video has surfaced of former Oregon wide receiver Keanon Lowe disarming a student who was carrying a loaded shotgun at Parkrose High School in Portland in May.

Surveillance footage that KGW8 obtained shows Lowe, who works as a security guard and football coach at the school, embracing Angel Granados-Diaz after taking the gun away from the then-18-year-old student.

Portland police responded to Parkrose High School on May 17, 2019 following reports of an armed person on campus. Police later learned that Granados-Diaz had made suicidal statements to another student earlier that day.

Granados-Diaz was sentenced to 36 months probation along with mental health and substance abuse treatment earlier this month.

"In that time I felt compassion for him," Lowe said of Granados-Diaz in an interview last spring. "I had a real life conversation. Obviously, he broke down and I wanted him to know I was there for him. I told him I was there to save him, I was there for a reason, and this is a life worth living."

Lowe played at Oregon from 2011 to 2014, finishing his college career with 68 catches for 891 yards and 11 touchdowns.
