The Los Angeles Angels are expected to hire Joe Maddon as their manager in the next day or two, sources told Scott Miller of Bleacher Report.

"It's a fait accompli, isn't it?" one source apparently said.

Angels owner Arte Moreno wants to hire the ex-Chicago Cubs skipper after an interview went "very well" on Monday, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

It was also reported earlier this week that Maddon hoped to land with the Angels, who fired former skipper Brad Ausmus on Sept. 30.

Before managing the Cubs and the Tampa Bay Rays, Maddon spent 30 years in the Angels organization in multiple roles. He won a World Series ring with the franchise in 2002 as a bench coach under manager Mike Scioscia.

The 65-year-old parted ways with the Cubs on Sept. 29 after five seasons in the Windy City. Maddon led Chicago to four postseason appearances, two division titles, and a historic World Series championship in 2016.

While he's expected to land with the Angels, Maddon is also reportedly drawing interest from the San Diego Padres, who fired former manager Andy Green on Sept. 21.
