Giants trade Dyson to Twins for trio of prospects
The San Francisco Giants have liquidated another reliever, trading Sam Dyson to the Minnesota Twins, the team announced following the July 31 trade deadline.
San Francisco receives a trio of prospects in exchange: Outfielder Jaylin Davis and right-handers Prelander Berroa and Kai-Wei Teng are all headed to the Giants.
Dyson owns a 2.47 ERA and 2.74 FIP with two saves in 49 appearances this season. The 31-year-old has one more season of arbitration remaining before he can test free agency following the 2020 campaign.
Davis, 25, is hitting .331/.405/.708 in 41 games this year since earning a promotion to Triple-A.
The 19-year-old Berroa has made seven starts in rookie ball this year, posting a 4.55 ERA and 4.63 FIP with a 26.8 percent strikeout rate and 11.6 percent walk rate.
Teng, 20, has authored a 1.60 ERA and 2.91 FIP over 50 2/3 innings in his first Single-A season.
