Marcus Stroman got heated after Sunday's game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays. A reported "commotion" in the Blue Jays' clubhouse was later revealed to involve Stroman, who had just been traded to the New York Mets.

There was speculation the 28-year-old would have preferred to go to the New York Yankees. His father lent credence to that idea when he said as much Monday morning.

But Stroman addressed the incident later Monday and denied it had anything to do with being disappointed about joining the Mets.

"The commotion was a discussion I had with some of our coaches and higher-ups in our (organization), so it was kind of an exit meeting where I was just voicing my opinion," Stroman said, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. "I didn't like how a couple of things were handled along the process and that was it. It had nothing to do with the Mets at all. It all hit me kind of quick."

Rumored to be on the move even before the season started, there had been an apparent rift growing between Stroman and Toronto's front office. An anonymous Blue Jays official was critical of the right-hander's attitude following Sunday's transaction.

"Sometimes players get real comfortable when they have been there a while and they think they are the veteran," the official said, according to Puma. "I think when he gets into a group with (Jacob) deGrom and (Noah) Syndergaard over there he will fit right in like he is supposed to do."

Prior to the trade, Stroman had spent his entire professional career with the Blue Jays after they selected him 22nd overall in the 2012 draft.
