Klay Thompson will listen to pitches from the Los Angeles Lakers and L.A. Clippers if the Golden State Warriors fail to offer a five-year, $190-million max contract when free agency opens Sunday, sources told The Los Angeles Times' Brad Turner.

The Lakers now have the ability to add a third superstar-caliber player after sending Mo Wagner, Jemerrio Jones, and Isaac Bonga to the Washington Wizards as a part of the Anthony Davis trade Thursday. They have approximately $32 million to work with.

The Clippers have enough cap space to add two marquee players this offseason and have been linked to virtually every max-level free agent as an attractive destination.

Thompson is a risky signing after suffering a torn ACL in the NBA Finals but there's optimism he could return ahead of the 2020 playoffs.
