Megan Rapinoe is ready for pandemonium.

Shortly after sending the United States to the quarterfinal of the World Cup with a pair of penalties in Monday's nervy 2-1 win over Spain, the U.S. star was asked about the looming encounter with France.

"Hopefully a complete spectacle, just an absolute media circus," she said, as quoted by Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated. "I hope it's huge and crazy, that's what it should be. This is the best game. This is what everybody wanted. I think we want it. Seems like they're up for it. You guys of course are up for it, and all the fans."

The host nation is widely regarded as the only side in the tournament that can realistically derail the Americans' title push; this potential last-eight clash has been circled on the calendar since the draw for the competition was made.

The hype surrounding the impending fixture, clearly, isn't lost on Rapinoe.

"I hope it's just a total shitshow circus," she added. "It's going to be totally awesome. This is what everybody wants, and these are the biggest games that you kind of dream about as a kid."

The two heavyweights will meet on June 28 in Paris.
