Report: Knicks still focused on drafting Barrett with No. 3 pick
Although the New York Knicks brought Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland in for a workout Wednesday, the team is still focused on selecting Duke's RJ Barrett with the No. 3 pick in Thursday's draft, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
In 38 appearances with Duke, Barrett averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, helping lead the Blue Devils - alongside presumptive No. 1 pick Zion Williamson - to the Elite Eight at the NCAA Tournament this past March.
New York has been widely projected to be Barrett's destination since the Knicks' slot was determined last month, but the organization has also reportedly given strong consideration to Garland in recent days. A standout freshman, Garland appeared in just five games before going down with a knee injury in November.
Buzz around the Knicks' upcoming decision appears to have reached the prospects themselves. As Garland and Barrett made an appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" Tuesday, the two exchanged a knowing glance when the host opined that the "Knicks are a great team to play for."
