Watch: Machado, Green go ballistic, get ejected in Colorado

It was an eventful night for the San Diego Padres on Saturday while losing to the Colorado Rockies.

First, third baseman Manny Machado lost his mind on home plate umpire Bill Welke in the fifth inning when he took issue with the strike zone. Machado threw a fit - and some projectiles - before being removed.

"I just felt our pitchers were making some of those (pitches) and weren’t getting calls," Machado said of the ejection, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

"I come up and I get a called strike on a pitch that was up and in that he hasn’t called all game," he continued. "I just thought it wasn’t fair. It changed the momentum of the at-bat. I just had to let him know what it was. Later on, on a pitch that was off the plate, I get a called strikeout. It’s just part of the game."

An inning later, Padres manager Andy Green went nuclear, and eventually bench coach Rod Barajas had to restrain him.

Green's anger apparently stemmed from Welke yelling toward the Padres' dugout after a fly ball in the sixth inning. That prompted Green to storm out, and he was subsequently tossed, according to Acee.

It was Green's second ejection this season, and both have come from Welke.

Pitcher Matt Strahm was also ejected for yelling from the Padres' bench.

Strahm said his ejection was a mix-up that happened after he yelled "Come on, Phil" at Padres reliever Phil Maton, and umpire crew chief Mike Everitt thought he was yelling at Welke, according to MLB.com's AJ Cassavell.
