Report: Durant traveling to New York for Achilles evaluation

Kevin Durant is traveling to New York on Tuesday for a doctor's evaluation on his injured right Achilles tendon, league sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The Golden State Warriors stayed overnight in Toronto following the Game 5 victory over the Raptors in which Durant was injured. The Warriors said he was slated to undergo an MRI on his right leg Tuesday, and the team reportedly believes the results will confirm a torn right Achilles tendon.

Durant suffered the non-contact injury early in the second quarter of Game 5 after playing 12 of 14 minutes. Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers emotionally took responsibility for the injury afterward, saying, "If you have to, you can blame me. I run our basketball operations department."

Prior to Monday, Durant hadn't played since May 8 due to a strained right calf. The Achilles tendon connects the calf muscle to the heel bone.
