The Phoenix Suns have informed teams they've made their No. 6 pick in the NBA draft available in a trade for the right veteran guard, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

The Suns - who finished the 2018-19 campaign tied for the second-worst record in the league - had a 14 percent chance to land the top pick in the draft and a 40.2 percent chance to get a top-three selection in May's draft lottery. However, they dropped three spots in the order.

Phoenix's drop effectively eliminated the team's opportunity to select one of the draft's elite players - Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, and RJ Barrett. There's a considerable drop in star potential in the current crop of prospects after the top three.

If the Suns remain in the draft, it's possible they could look to add Vanderbilt's Darius Garland or North Carolina's Coby White - if available - to become their point guard of the future alongside Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.

Booker spent a large chunk of the season as the team's primary ball-handler until sharing point guard duties with combo guard Tyler Johnson, who was acquired from the Miami Heat ahead of the trade deadline.

The Suns were forced to start inexperienced point guards De'Anthony Melton and Elie Okobo, as well as career backup Isaiah Canaan, for the majority of the season due to a lack of depth at the position.
