LeBron James will pay tribute to Martin Lawrence's 1990s television series "Martin" with an upcoming colorway of his signature sneaker.
The upcoming Nike LeBron 16, which surfaced on the Instagram account Sayitwityakickz, features a purple upper, black heel, and red-and-yellow laces. Frankie Walker, James' longtime friend, confirmed the shoe is a nod to "Martin" in the comments of the post, writing: "Definitely Martin inspired. Was gonna let y'all figure it out lol."
"Martin" also served as the inspiration for James' 2016 Halloween costume - a look that apparently cost him $5,000.
A release date for the LeBron 16 has yet to be announced, but a similar-sounding shoe is scheduled to drop April 16, according to Sole Collector's Brandon Richard.
