The Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz have discussed the possibility of sending Mike Conley to Utah for a package including Ricky Rubio, league sources told The New York Times' Marc Stein.

Rubio's expiring contract carries a $15-million cap hold - less than half of the $30.5 million Conley is owed this season; other contracts would have to be added to balance the books.

After a promising 12-5 start, the Grizzlies' season has cratered. Sporting a 20-32 record with the Feb. 7 trade deadline looming, the team has put both career-long franchise stalwarts Conley and Marc Gasol on the trade block. Memphis is seeking top future draft assets for either player, according to Stein.

Through 12 seasons, Conley has averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game, garnering All-Defensive second team honors in 2012-13.
