Denis Suarez officially swapped Catalonia for north London on Thursday.

Though Barcelona appeared to confirm the switch Wednesday before mysteriously deleting the announcement, Arsenal affirmed Suarez has officially signed a deal that will see him spend the second half of the season at the Emirates.

The move reunites Suarez with gaffer Unai Emery, who managed the 25-year-old during his time at Sevilla.

"We are very happy that Denis Suarez is joining us," Emery said in a statement. He is a player we know well and I have worked with him at Sevilla. He brings us quality and options in many different attacking positions, so he'll be able to help the team."

Barcelona revealed that the Gunners have an option to buy the Spanish international outright at the end of the season. The clause was reportedly a point of contention during negotiations, as talks between the two clubs were said to have broken down at one point over the Blaugrana's insistence on either making the purchase option mandatory or including a €20-million fee up front.

To help facilitate the move, Suarez signed a one-year contract extension with the Catalan side, thereby preserving his market value for Barcelona if Arsenal choose not to sign him permanently this summer.
