Grizzlies' Brooks to undergo surgery on toe, will reportedly miss rest of season
Memphis Grizzlies swingman Dillon Brooks will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured ligament in his big right toe, the team announced. He's likely to miss the remainder of the season, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The Grizzlies said an update will be provided after the procedure.
Brooks hurt himself in Saturday's loss to the San Antonio Spurs and limped off the floor in the fourth quarter. He subsequently missed Monday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Brooks took to Twitter on Wednesday to offer thanks for the support he's received.
Thank you all for the continued support ! My #GrindCity Family, Canadian Family & Oregon Family, I appreciate you all. Minor bump on my journey to greatness but I will be back soon. #GoGrizz #DB24

It's a significant blow to a Grizzlies squad that has lost 10 of its last 12 while falling to 13th in the Western Conference. Brooks missed time earlier this season due to a knee injury, but has been a key contributor to the team's second unit. The Canadian sophomore is averaging eight points on 37.5 percent 3-point shooting in 18 games.
