Report: Matt Adams agrees to 1-year deal with Nationals

Free-agent first basemen Matt Adams has agreed to a deal to return to the Washington Nationals, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The contract is a one-year deal worth $4 million, sources told Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. Adams will earn a base salary of $3 million in 2019, and the deal contains a mutual option for 2020 with a $1-million buyout, according to MASN's Mark Zuckerman.

Adams signed a one-year contract with the Nats last offseason as well, but finished his campaign with the St. Louis Cardinals after being claimed on revocable waivers by his former team.

The 30-year-old appeared in 121 games between both clubs in 2018, slashing .239/.309/.477 with 21 home runs and 10 doubles.
