Free-agent starting pitcher Patrick Corbin is making the rounds in his search for a new contract.

After meeting with the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, Corbin reportedly visited with the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.

General manager Mike Rizzo is apparently "seriously focused" on signing the starter, a source tells Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The 29-year-old could help solidify a formidable Nationals rotation alongside three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer and three-time All-Star Stephen Strasburg. Washington is also currently without a left-handed starter and is poised to open the season with Joe Ross, Erick Fedde, and Tanner Roark rounding out the rotation.

Corbin is coming off a career season in which he went 11-7 with a 3.15 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 11.1 K/9 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, earning his second trip to the All-Star Game and finishing fifth in Cy Young voting.

The Nationals were reportedly one of the interested parties for Corbin's services in mid-November alongside the Phillies and New York Yankees. He remains high on the Nationals' wish list, but the competition is expected to be steep on the open market, MASN's Mark Zuckerman reports.

New York has long been seen as the front-runner for Corbin and is apparently the next stop on his tour, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The Yankees' recent acquisition of southpaw James Paxton caused some to question whether they would still pursue the left-handed Corbin but it appears they may still be in the mix.
