Report: Colorado to part ways with MacIntyre after season

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Colorado and head coach Mike MacIntyre will part ways at the end of the season, multiple sources told Troy Renck and Joseph Peters of Denver7.

Athletic director Rick George denied the report in a statement Tuesday afternoon, although he didn't exactly offer MacIntyre a vote of confidence.

"We do not comment on speculation or unsubstantiated rumors with anonymous sources," George said, according to The Athletic's Nicole Auerbach. "Let me just say I have made no decisions regarding the future of our football program."

MacIntyre is nearing the conclusion of his sixth campaign in Boulder. He guided the Buffaloes to a 10-4 record and the Pac-12 South title in 2016, but he's otherwise failed to post a winning season. He also came under fire in 2017 for his handling of past domestic violence complaints against former assistant Joe Tumpkin.

The Buffaloes will attempt to snap a five-game losing streak Saturday against Utah. They must win one of their final two matchups to qualify for a bowl game.

MacIntyre has three years and about $10 million remaining on his contract.
