The Minnesota Timberwolves have declined the third-year team option on sophomore center Justin Patton's contract, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski.

Patton has underwent three foot fracture surgeries since being drafted, including two on his left foot and, most recently, another on his right foot in September.

The oft-injured big man has appeared in just one game since being drafted No. 16 overall in the 2017 draft by the Chicago Bulls. Minnesota acquired his rights along with Jimmy Butler in exchange for Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine, and the No. 7 pick, which turned into Lauri Markkanen.
