The San Francisco Giants are interested in poaching someone from their most storied rival, but not one of the on-field variety.

To fill their notable front-office vacancy, the Giants are reportedly looking into Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi for the role of president of baseball operations, according to a report from Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

At the end of September, San Francisco parted ways with Bobby Evans, who had been with the club for 25 years and served as the team's GM from 2015-18. Since then, the baseball operations department has been run by president and chief executive officer Laurence M. Baer.

Zaidi, an MIT and Berkeley graduate, was notably hired by the Oakland Athletics after reading Michael Lewis' book 'Moneyball' and applying to work as a data analyst. He eventually was credited with the club's acquisition of Yoenis Cespedes and earned a promotion to assistant GM. Following the 2014 season, led by new president Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers hired Zaidi as their general manager.
