Report: Embiid signs multi-year deal with Under Armour
Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid has signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The lucrative contract reportedly makes Embiid's shoe deal the highest of any big man in the NBA.
Embiid joins Stephen Curry on Under Armour, giving the brand a second superstar after its stock took a hit in recent years.
The All-Star center has longed for an opportunity to have his own signature shoe, a rarity among big men in the Association.
"A lot of people, you know, always have that notion (that) big men can't sell shoes," Embiid said during the 76ers' trip to China, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "And when I look at myself ... I can dribble, I can pass the ball, I can shoot. I can bring it up. I can be a playmaker. I'm more than a big man. So as far as signature shoes, I'm excited to come and break that."
Embiid was with Adidas before signing with Under Armour.
