Joe Girardi's absence from an MLB dugout may be short-lived.

The Cincinnati Reds are interviewing the former New York Yankees skipper for their manager job, according to multiple reports.

Girardi joins current interim manager Jim Riggleman and former Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell to interview for the position. The team is expected to tab former Detroit Tigers bench boss Brad Ausmus and San Francisco Giants farm director David Bell for interviews over the next week.

The 53-year-old Girardi has expressed an interest in returning to managing since the Yankees elected not to bring him back for the 2018 season.

In addition to interviewing for the Reds, Girardi's name has popped up as a potential replacement for Mike Scioscia with the Los Angeles Angels or Paul Molitor with the Minnesota Twins.

Over 10 seasons in New York, Girardi's Yankees went 910-710 and won the 2009 World Series.
