Report: Ramsey set to leave Arsenal after contract talks halted
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is likely to be sold in January or leave on a free transfer next summer after a breakdown in contract talks, the BBC's David Ornstein reports.
The Gunners had hoped to sign Ramsey to fresh terms, but negotiations now appear to have stopped.
Ramsey's situation is similar to last year's predicament when Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were allowed to enter the final years of their contracts. Ozil ended up signing a deal worth a reported £350,000 a week, while Sanchez departed midseason for Manchester United.
Manager Unai Emery had believed the Welshman would extend his stay at the Emirates, and although he was dropped in an August defeat to Chelsea, the 27-year-old has made himself available in a variety of midfield positions.
He's also Arsenal's longest-serving player, having joined the club in 2008 in a £4.8-million move from Cardiff City. Ramsey scored the winners in the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup finals, and his 10 assists since the start of last season are the most of any Arsenal player.
