Westbrook has knee scoped, will be re-evaluated in 4 weeks

Russell Westbrook has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced Thursday. The team said he'll be re-evaluated in four weeks, which will likely cause him to miss the preseason.

The situation could put his status for the regular-season opener in jeopardy as well - the Thunder tip off the season on Oct. 16 in Golden State against the Warriors.

It's the fourth surgical procedure he's had on his right knee, although it's his first in almost five years. Prior to that, Westbrook underwent three surgeries on the knee in a nine-month span after tearing his meniscus during the 2013 playoffs.

Westbrook averaged a triple-double for the second straight season last year, just the third time that's been accomplished in NBA history.
