Montano taken to hospital, women's flyweight title fight off
UFC women's flyweight champion Nicco Montano was transported to a hospital Friday morning and her title fight with Valentina Shevchenko is canceled as a result, the promotion announced.
Montano was named the UFC's inaugural women's flyweight champ after taking a unanimous decision over Roxanne Modafferi at the "Ultimate Fighter 26" Finale in December.
Shevchenko moved down from bantamweight and quickly climbed the ranks to become the No. 1 contender in the new division.
A massive -1500 betting favorite, Shevchenko spoke for weeks about her doubts that the fight would go through.
VIDEO: @BulletValentina will only believe her fight against Nicco Montaño is going to happen once she sees her in the Octagon on Saturday night.
