The 33-year-old superstar made the decision to spurn the Cavaliers on July 1 in a widely debated move. However, the reaction has been far more positive than his exit in 2010, when he left his home state to join the Miami Heat.

In his first meeting against the Cavaliers nearly eight years ago, James entered a volatile Quicken Loans Arena alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. James told ESPN's Rachel Nichols in a 2017 interview that fans threw batteries at the superstar trio.

James stayed under the radar during this free-agency period until he announced the July 30 opening of his I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
