Mike Trout continues to be sidelined for right wrist soreness, and the Los Angeles Angels announced that the superstar centerfielder received a cortisone injection on Monday morning.

Trout has been out of action since Aug. 1, when he jammed his wrist attempting to steal a base in the first inning. The 26-year-old stayed in the game, but underwent and MRI and X-rays following the contest which indicated no structural damage. After complaining of soreness, the Angels have held Trout out of five consecutive games, including Monday evening's series opener against the Detroit Tigers.

Despite missing the last five games, Trout still paces all of baseball in WAR, according to FanGraphs. Over 109 games, the two-time MVP owns a .309/.459/.624 slash line with 7.6 WAR; a precarious lead on Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez at 7.5 WAR.
