Diamondbacks' Jake Lamb: To seek second opinion on shoulder
Lamb is set to meet with Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Tuesday for an evaluation of his left shoulder injury, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
Although the injury was diagnosed as a left shoulder bruise, the Diamondbacks are being cautious with the 27-year-old third baseman. Lamb's MRI results will be evaluated by both surgeons before deciding how to proceed. He suffered a similar injury earlier in the season that kept him on the shelf for six weeks, but this time around the initial MRI appeared less serious. However, the fact he is getting checked out by the top two surgeons in pro sports suggests there may be a more serious root issue that needs to be addressed.
