Dutch giant Ajax is keen on re-signing its former star Daley Blind from Manchester United this summer, according to the Telegraph's James Ducker.

Blind joined United from the Eredivisie giant in 2014 and featured heavily in either defence or midfield in his first three years at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old Netherlands international started the Europa League final victory over his former side in May 2017, but has started just seven league games for Jose Mourinho's side since then, something as much due to competition for places as it was to an ankle injury which ruled him out for three months from mid-January until mid-April.

Now, Ducker reports Ajax wants him back, and that Blind himself is also thought to be open to a return to Amsterdam.

However, the report claims Blind would have to take a pay cut on his supposed £120,000-per-week wages in order to get his homecoming.

With Mourinho having added reinforcements in midfield and defence already this summer in the form of Brazil midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk and right-back Diogo Dalot from Porto, Blind now appears to be something of a spare part in Salford.

Blind came through Ajax's famed youth academy having joined the club in 1998 as an eight-year-old. He spent a total of 16 years at Amsterdam Arena before leaving for England.
