The Indiana Pacers will decline Lance Stephenson's team option, making him an unrestricted free agent, sources told Yahoo's Shams Charania.

The final-year option was for $4.3 million. By declining, the Pacers open up more flexibility under the salary cap. A report earlier this month suggested Thaddeus Young would decline his player option, which alone would clear $13.7 million under the cap.

The Pacers currently only have $47 million in guaranteed contracts next season.

Monday's news could mean the end of the eccentric Stephenson's second stint with the Pacers, who originally drafted him in 2010. He played in a career-high 82 games this past season, averaging 9.2 points.
