Brown was tazed and tackled by 11 police officers during an arrest for double-parking across two disabled spots. Body camera footage showed Brown offered no resistance during the arrest and posed no threats to the officers involved.
Milwaukee police chief Alonso Morales offered a public apology, but only three of the officers were given suspensions, which lasted between two and 15 days. The other eight were ordered to undergo remedial training.
The lawsuit by Brown also includes insensitive comments from one of the arresting officers, Erik Andrade, who joked about his treatment of Brown on more than one occasion.
